"Expert" Advice and Dietary Guidelines

  • The American Dietetic Association: This organization is supposed to provide reliable, unbiased dietary advice, but their close association with the processed food industry makes that unlikely.
  • American Heart Association: The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke." But the low fat advice they give is at the root of the obesity and diabetes epidemics in America.
  • Anti Inflammatory Diet: An anti inflammatory diet is one which reduces the consumption of foods which increase inflammation, and substitutes foods which decrease inflammation. There are also supplements that can be taken to reduce inflammation within the body.
  • FDA: The Food and Drug Administration is supposed to help keep us safe from bad drugs, but it has been compromised by the very industry it's supposed to watch.
  • Low Fat Diet: A low fat diet is a diet in which fat and calorie consumption are restricted.
  • Medical Knowledge: The medical knowledge your doctor relies on to treat you is incomplete, and at times, inaccurate. The smart medical consumer will spend the time doing their own medical research, so they can accurately judge the quality of the care they receive from their physician.
  • National Heart, Lung, And Blood Institute: The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute is a sub department of the National Institutes of Health. They are the sponsors of the famous and expensive 1964 Framingham Study, which is cited by most governmental nutritional agencies as a reason for Americans to lower their cholesterol levels through diet and drugs. And it's wrong.
  • National Institutes of Health: The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research. They are biased toward low fat research.
  • The USDA Food Pyramid: There are large volumes of research results which disprove the reasoning behind the food pyramid recommendations, yet the USDA Food Pyramid has not changed much since it first came out in 1992.
